The Biggest Baby Haul Ever: Baby Essentials
Hello Awake Mamas!
I recently went to a huge baby and registry event, called Big City Moms, and it was really cool because not only did I receive TONS of FREE stuff, but also got to go with my cousin and boy did we have fun!
Now, I’m not going lie, it was VERY overwhelming; too many things, too many products, too much information, all at once!
With that overload of information, I was gifted a load of baby products that I couldn’t wait to share with you. Hopefully my experience will serve you in many ways & I hope I'm able to give you a better understanding of the many baby products that are out there, as well as the Big City Moms event that's held all over the United States, each year.
All the products that I got at the event were free, but obviously the ticket wasn’t.
My ticket cost about $50 and my cousin’s ticket was around $25. These tickets actually cost more but we were smart enough to google coupons for this event and found one. So if you’re thinking of going, I suggest you do the same… Just google “Big City Moms coupon in (your city)” and thats going to give you a really nice discount!
The ticket that I got included a huge bag with a jillion of free products, so it was definitely worth paying extra for it.
If you’re like me that you haven’t given birth yet, then this is a great way to have a better idea of what you should acutally buy/try out before using it on your baby. Most of the products in this bag were given to me at the event as samples. They also had an even more expensive ticket that if I would've known I would have paid more for because that one also included something else to add to your nursery.
Again, we received plenty of complimentary things at Big City Moms. If you’d like to know more about every single item that we got, then feel free to watch the video below where I go through them one by one. But on this blog, I specifically want to focus only on the items that stood out to me the most from this event.
I originally thought this event was going to be a bit different because I had already attended another registry event, so I was expecting something else. How this event works is that you go in and you go up to each booth, basically companies promoting their products. You go up to them & hear their speeches on why their products are the best ones for you and your child. Once they're done, they give you a free sample to to take home and try. (Some of them gave it to us right away without having to listen to them, others made you listen to their whole sells-talk and with a few, I found myself listening to the boring talk to receive nothing at the end.)
If you're accompanied by someone who is not pregnant, who just happens to be there supporting you, that other person will receive a pile of things from these companies too. My cousin walked out with a lot of bags that she got for free as well. Some of the things she kept because they were things that adults can actually buy/try, but the baby stuff she did pass onto me. So I got tons of doubles in some cases, thanks to her going with me!
Now, let’s get started with some of my favorite products from Big City Moms!
Again, if you want a more in depth description about all the products I received, feel free to watch the YouTube video below.
Here are my top products:
❀ To begin with, one of the most important things that I got is also the simplest one; an Emergency Contact Fridge Magnet. I got this product from one of the children’s hospital that attended the event. I looked and found an even better one online, in case you'd be interested in getting one for yourself. I think this is great to have just in case, since you never know what could happen. Once filled out, it will have your child’s emergency contact & doctor’s information on it.
❀ Moving on, another product I really liked receiving to try out were the Disposable Diaper Sacks Bags Roll. We’ve all seen this on the streets, mainly used to pick up after your pet. But I never knew this great invention actually existed for babies too! Check out the one I found on Amazon. It’s durable, made from 100% biodegradable materials & eco-friendly, comes with a fresh baby powder scent to help control odors and it is easy to carry around, perfect for strollers, diaper bags or for at home.
❀ Something that I’ve already started using and really like are the Fresh Wave Odor Removing products. They’re great to carry around in your bag, spray anywhere, or simply leave it in your bathroom to help remove those nasty smells. It removes odors with natural ingredients using no harsh chemicals, plus no harmful ingredients. Spray is biodegradable and packaging is recyclable. Check it out!
❀ Many moms had already recommended this next product & after trying it myself, I am loving it. I like products that are odorless and for sensitive skin, so these Wipes from Pampers really hit the spot! They are dermatologist-tested, perfume-free and hypoallergenic.
❀ The next product I’d like to add on here is the Chicco Silicone Pacifier. Like I mentioned in the video, I’ve already gotten a few of these and I cannot wait to try them when my baby arrives. What I like the most about these pacifiers is that it's an extra soft, orthodontic pacifier that supports physiological oral development & it's BPA Free & Latex Free!
❀ The Bamboobies Washable & Reusable Nursing Pads is another product I know for a fact that I will be using a lot the next couple of month/year! They have great reviews and I cannot wait to use them. These nursing pads are great for the environment, made with super soft Bamboo rayon, cotton & hemp fabrics, making them highly absorbant and comfortable. Check them out for yourself!
❀ I never thought I’d use this product but now I’m really looking forward to using it soon. The Dapple Pacifier Fragrance Free Wipes safely cleans pacifiers, teethers, bottle nipples and more. They’re preservative and fragrance free, 100% natural formulation and biodegradable, plus free of phthalates, parabens, SLS, SLES & dyes.
❀ Another brand that many moms have recommended is Dr. Brown’s, especially their Antic-Colic Baby Bottles. I received one at the event and I’ve heard such great things about it that I will definitely try it with my baby. They help reduce feeding problems, known for reducing colic, spit-up, burping and gases, plus helps maintain vitamins C, A and E and they’re BPA free!
❀ Also, another wipes that I’ve been using and so far so good are the Babyganics Alcohol-Free Hand Sanitizing Wipes. These and the Pamper ones are my favorite so far. They are plant based, nourishes the skin and it’s non-allergenic, plus alcohol, parabens, sulfate and fragrance free. Oh and never tested on animals.. yay!
❀ Now let’s talk about the cutest reusable food pouches! If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know how much I love reusing and recycling. And the Sage Squeeze Reusable Food Pouches are great for babies & toddlers! It's entire side opens up for easy, no mess filling, easily rinsable, dishwasher safe, freezer safe & BPA, phthalate, lead and PVC free.
❀ Can I just say I cannot wait to wrap my baby around with my brand new Summer Infant Swaddle. It’s so cute! Made from natural, soft, 100% cotton fabric.
And that's it!!!
That was a lot of products, a lot of information that I had to listen to and research during and after this event, but it was definitely worth my time! I’ve been able to use many baby products already by just attending this Big City Moms event in Miami, FL. It has been great to try them before my blessing arrives and see which products I prefer the most. If I don't like it on myself, why would I even use them on my baby?!?!
I hope I was somewhat helpful, even though I always like to suggest to do your own research before you decide on anything.
If you do end up trying any of the products that I mention here or on the video, make sure to let me know if you liked them or not, as well as if they worked for you or your child!
