Best Ways To Prevent Pimples

Today I’d like to discuss ways to prevent getting pimples of your face. I’ve had to deal with a very ugly pimple on my face for the past few days & it hasn’t been fun.

It all started this past Father’s Day when “Mr.Pimple” (I’ve named my pimple, lol) decided to make his obvious appearance. I, of course, wasn’t too thrilled with his visit. So I told myself I must look for ways to avoid this kind of skin visitors, especially on important days.

So here it is; Best ways to try and prevent pimples on your face before they start:

1- Wash your face twice daily. Use a mild cleanser & rinse with warm water. Do not scrub hard, use your hands. 

2- Try to avoid scrubs. Some scrubs might be too harsh on your skin. Try to consult your doctor first before deciding on one.

3- Wash off your makeup. Be sure to wash it off completely before going to bed.

4- Wash your hair regularly. Greasy hair that rubs on your face can add more oil to your skin.

5- Pick out oil-free skin care products. Only use products that say “noncomedogenic”, ”nonacnegenic” or simply “oil-free”. This means the product won’t clog your pores.

6- Keep hair products away from your face. For example, hairsprays & gels.

7- Cut back on foods that are linked to acne. Some foods may trigger acne in certain people. Some examples are cookies, cakes, dairy products & pies! (Pretty much all the tasty things in life.)

8- Wear sunscreen when going outside. Sunburn can cause an overproduction of oils that may cause acne problems.

9- Don’t over exfoliate. While this may help with the removal of dead cells, it may also make breakouts worse when natural oils are removed from the skin. This causes the skin to overproduce oils, clogging your pores, leading to more pimples.

10- Reduce stress in your life. This not only applies to the prevention of pimples but also your life in general. Reduce the stress by meditating, doing yoga, exercising and spending time in nature.

I hope these tips help you avoid those nasty pimples we get from time to time. I need to start applying all of the above in my life ASAP!
